The increasing number of ads are getting to me, and I’m making it your problem
As is clear, ads are creeping their way into every single facet of life: home screens of £500 mobile phones, TV screensavers, Product placement in the middle of the news, Dentist ceilings.
It won’t be long till every flat surface has some kind of advertisement and looks like a noughties teen magazine.
Lets also not forget platforms and services who once sold us on their lack of ads are creating new product tiers and surreptitiously inserting ads into our service, and that one ‘free’ TV that failed, which included a seconds screen underneath the main screen that constantly played ads and submitted your watching habits to its ad providers.

Because of this in my real life I have been attempting to remove all unwitting ads as possible: I sold my TV, I’ve reduced my social media to just a single app, I only listen to physical media, if I want to watch youtube I choose to watch it from my mac in the least comfortable chair in my flat, and so on… i’m at war with ads, and in the words of Sun Tzu “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”.
Heavy is the heart that sits on their arse and watches ads all day
So what is the logical conclusion of all this development in advertising? Willingly selling your attention!
I made a satire site where you watch ads and “earn” money based on published CPM numbers. Functionally that’s all you do, but everything is some kind of joke or reference. The design is inspired by one of the largest survey websites, there’s a limit on how many ads you can watch a day but it’s not possible to realistically hit that limit (commentary bad regulation on gambling), specific references to 1984, an implementation of the Mcdonalds TV ad patent, and so many more like that.
Watch out for the Brow micro-furrow technology 😛
